Reception following the performance
To celebrate its 20th Anniversary, choir and audience members have chosen their favorite vocal and instrumental pieces from the last 19 seasonsógems of the medieval repertoire, spanning four centuries. Featured are music by the great 12th century mystic Hildegard of Bingen, by 14th century composers Lionel Power, and Adam de la Halle. The Iberian peninsula is represented by some Sephardic songs and tunes, and by stories about lost sheep and pork chops, as told in the Cantigas de Santa Maria (The Virgin Mary finds them in both cases!). Director Margriet Tindemans is honored that the choir also chose one of her compositions among its favorites. Marian Seibert, an audience favorite for many years, will reprise some of her memorable solos.
Margriet hopes many of the choir alumnae will be on hand to sing some of the Hildegard pieces or English carols they might remember.
